REVIVE AFRICA INITIATIVE CALLS ON AU TO LIVE UP TO ITS MANDATE BY STEPOING IN TO PREMENTLY ADDRESS THE POLITICAL TURMOIL IN DECRATIC REOUBLIC OF CONGO.
There has been a Political crisis in Kongo, amplified recently by the call by the call for the immediate resignation of President Kabila after his reunite expired towards the end of 2017, by the masses, Catholic Faith and other Christian bodies as well as opposition, the Presidential election has been postponed consecutively by the sitting president, the masses believes that Kabila intentionally do not want to relinquish power.
The people are demanding for the President to resign and step aside, following the expiration of his tenure. Peaceful protesters were recently brutalized and injured by the drc Police and Military Personnels and the president seems not to be perturbed about it.
We are calling on the African Union to step in and lay this matter to rest. The will of the people should allowed to stand in a Democratic setting. The habit of clinging to Power by most African leaders is irritating and undemocratic, the rate if lawlessness and display of impunity by African Political class is on rapid increase and this development is not good for democracy, many African Nations have been plunged into war severally for related reasons. The African Union is not leaving up to its responsibility in this regard.
We are calling on AU to rise up to its duties and Wade into the political turmoil in DRC in order to avert impending civil war.
The people are not happy, a nation's constitution is being g undermined, right of the people being infringed upon, masses being oppressed and brutalized for speaking out, A Nation's peace is under treat, hence this is not the time for the African Union to be silent. This is the very reason why the Union exists.
We urge the African union to rise up to this occasion and salvage it. It is important that they act fast, because things are getting out of hand. They should be proactive in their actions, AU should as a matter of urgency, send in their delegation to investigate the situation. If necessary sanctions should be placed, if it will take the AU to force the President to do the right thing, then they should do just exactly.
Africa is bigger than just few persons who for the sake of greed wants to remain in power at the expense of the masses, Democratic Republic of Congo is bigger that the Kabila's family.
This is the very time to act.
